From the collection of Hiram Scofield, who in the 1800's held one of the largest private libraries in America, his bookplate front paste down. In contemporary half calf over marbled boards, red morocco label with gilt lettering and rules. Very Good, moderate toning, light rubbing at the tips. Baroness de Stael-Holstein was an avid opponent to Napoleon and an early feminist best remembered for her many affairs. . First Edition in English. Half Calf. Very Good/No Jacket, As Issued. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
