February 1776., 1776. 20” x 27 ½” (50.7 x 69.8 cm). original colour (masking tape attached to three corners on verso, short centre fold splits at margins repaired, light mat burns near plate marks). First Issue of this important map of Quebec. The map shows the boundaries of Quebec according to the 1763 Treaty of Paris. Two inset maps, ‘A Particular Survey Of The Isles of Montreal’ and ‘Course of the River St. Laurence’, show the pattern of settlement and the feudal estates. The two inset plans of Montreal and Quebec locate the principal fortifications, churches and hospitals of the cities. Tooley, The Mapping of America, p. 97.(a).
