This addition to the celebrated Octavo Digital Editions series reproduces a sammelband volume containing the first two books of Durer's Von menschlicher Proportion in the Latin translation of 1532, as well as the second, expanded edition of his Underweysung der Messung (1538). It includes images of both works, cover-to-cover in unprecedented resolution (may be magnified at up to 300% of original size), full searchable English translations of the text (by Silvio Levy and Walter L. Strauss), an introductory commentary by David Price, bibliographical information, and a detailed provenance (the binding of this copy bears the arms of Holy Roman Emperor Rudolf II). This book is in good condition. There is some wear on the front, back, spine, edges and corner of the cover. There is some dog-earring on the right corner pages of the book. The pages are white, crisp and clear of any markings. "This is a history of the visual arts produced in the geographical area that now constitutes the United States. Such a book is difficult to title. A History of United States Art sounds awkward and logically might even be construed to exclude the arts of the colonial period.
