About This Item

Typed letter signed by Javits written on United States Senate, Committee on Labor and Public Welfare letterhead with U.S. seal watermark to paper. Letter reads: "Dear Mrs. Friedman: Thank you for your letter of October 4th. In response to your inquiry, you will be pleased to know that the Senate on August 6th by a 51-0 vote passed S-659, the Education Amendments of 1971. The House Education and Labor Committee on October 8th reported out a parallel measure. It is now pending before the House of Representatives where, I am hopeful, it will be acted on very soon. With best wishes, Sincerely, Jacob K. Javits." Written to Mrs. Irene S. Friedman, Coordinator of Graduate Research, Council of Higher Educational Institutions in New York City. Paper has a watermark of United States seal with the date 1971. 7 5/8 x 10 1/4 inches. Shipped through USPS Priority insured mail.
