Believed to be the "First Thus" , c 1850, because other similar copies have dates 1851, 1899 (Longmans Green) and 1911. 1 x 3mm hole on spine has been restored. Top edge gilt; other edges clean; no markings; bevelled edges. Gilt title on spine somewhat tarnished, that on spine rather bright.

The book block is warped but unread and unmarked. Wonderful evocative verse. Exceedingly Rare.

Spine dinged, prev owner's name; no inscriptions or annotations. Appears un-read.

Brand new - better than new. The cover in plastic is an optional extra. All the verse is in praise of the Lord or His Creation. Helen Bird wrote some verse unrhymed and all appears to be unscanned. Written over a life time. At this time she is over 101 years old, looks amazingly young and teaches embroidery.

Book has been completely rebound with the original front cover and spine affixed. All edges gilt, the binding is shaken but solid; some foxing especially in the earlier pages; all pages tanned. 4 corners are rubbed; covers lightly spotted; ink inscription dated 1925 on ffep. Gilt-stamped spine; title, spine illustration, front cover title and illustration all black. Boards have bevelled edges. No date of publication. Publisher is given as "Frederick Warne & Co. Ltd." Warne became a limited company in 1919.

Worn at head & tail and slightly so on corners, now restored. Rear board marked. Some wonderful poetry; some unintelligible. Covered in plastic.

Spine is sightly worn at head and tail, now reinforced inside channel; top edge gilt but worn; 4 cnrs scuffed; 2 pages have chips, 10x10mm out of the margins. Unfoxed and slightly tanned. Frontis and another plate in b&w. Very rare.

Titles on spine in somewhat worn gilt - otherwise in perfect condition- appears unread. All pages very slightly yellowed. Vol vi has a School's Prize label on the front fep, dated Oct 1899.

Hand printed title on spine; 4 corners somewhat worn; some neat underlining at "The Rape of the Lock"; all pages uniformly browned; foxing confined to the end pages and prelims; ownership stamp of J C Lind. Book has a frontis only in Vol II.
