Rochdale,1994, pp. (8),157. Original card covers. Virtually as new. An excellent, well-illustrated history of this old district of Rochdale and a very different book from the original edition of some 20 years earlier.

Pride Books, 1982. Landscape format, 72 pages, card covers. Very good condition. The story of the famous Rochdale coach frirm Yelloway.

Ashton,1842, pp. (2),177,v. Plain binder's cloth without lettering, tape repairs to first leaf of text, last page a bit marked. A sound working copy of a scarce title. Not to be confused with the book which his father James wrote on Ashton. Presentation inscription from John Ross Culthart, a prominent banker in Ashton to the Venerable Archdeacon Rushton.

Preston, 1888. Large Paper copy, 4to, pp. x,(2),296. With a folding map, plates and pedigrees. List of subscribers. Original cloth, spine a bit frayed at spine ends and a little rubbed and faded, but a good, sound, copy. Some foxing and browning of the first and last few pages. Inscribed "from the author" on half title.

Manchester, John Heywood, 1895 and 1901. Two volumes, complete. Original green cloth, top edges gilt. Volume one a little rubbed at corners and spine ends, inner hinges cracked, but still tight and sound. Volume two with small mark to foot of front cover, else excellent condition.Detailed reminiscences of police life in Manchester.

Ashton, Thomas Cunningham, 1823. Original boards with a modern paper spine and label to match. Page edges untrimmed. Board corners worn, else good, sound condition.

Clithroe Advertiser and Times, n.d. (c.1927) 4to, pp. 328, double column printed., with three pages of Errata et Corrigenda. Half calf with partially faded cloth sides. Spine worn and repaired and rather fragile, but otherwise tight and sound condition.

London, Waldegrave,1963, pp. (8), 86, with numerous illustrations. A very nice, clean copy in excellent dust jacket.

Bury, 1999. A4 format, card covers, pp. vi, 96. Slight split at top of spine, else good, sound condition.

Rochdale, Edwards & Bryning, 1923, second edition (much enlarged from the first), pp. 281, numerous photo illustrations. Lancaster, 2007. Revised and expanded edition, 301 pages. Card covers just a little rubbed with a small "thumb crease", but tight and sound condition.

Rochdale,Yates,1938, first and only edition,pp. (8),171, coloured frontis.With an introduction by Ammon Wrigley. Original cloth, spine a trifle faded, but a good, sound copy. This book was never issued with a dust jacket. Not to be confused with the post-war book by the same author and with the same title,but an entirely different contents.

Crompton UDC, 1967, pp. 106, illustrated with 46 photos. Original cloth. Very nice, clean condition.

Manchester, John Heywood, c. 1900, pp. viii,166 plus adverts, with portrait frontis. and other illustrations. A very good copy in the original cloth. The adverts include one for shoes with asbestos middle soles! The author served in the police forces of Duckinfield, Ashton then Stalybridge.

Preston, Oakey, 1888. Original cloth, 381 pages. Binding rubbed at spine, but sound, a name untidily blacked out on half title, but rest of contents good.

Sherratt & Hughes, 1908, large 4to, pp. (16), 307, numerous illustrations including four photogravures. Original cloth. The plate at page 1 has come loose at some time and been put back in using sellotape which has left a slight mark down the inner margin. This tape has been removed and the plate neatly re-fixed. Manchester, W. D. Varey, 1828, two parts, Rochdale and Saddleworth, each with tile page and frontispiece of the respective parish churches. Contemporary half calf with marbled boards, very expertly re-backed. Covers a bit dull and rubbed, name inside, some staining mainly to the endpapers, but very sound condition.
