Rare books from Bonnie Lane Books

This is an exceedingly rare book. A Museum Archive claims that it was printed, perhaps in secret, by the CPA or CLP in late 1918 or 1919. Those organizations were driven underground and would not have had the resources to print this book. The book itself is a collection of photographs on 'somewhat glossy, relatively robust, relatively archival paper.' The photographs are famous- I have seen them used in textbooks. There is NO title page. The text is in both Russian and English. The covers are worn, but the pages and photos are in Fine condition. The binding is a tied cord that may be removed to take our individual photographs.

The works attempts to describe ritual objects and astronomical phenomena as perceived by a Native Tribe and the effects that those had on their religious and cultural practices. This book is one of the most important sources for Native American ethnology related to astronomy, and is often cited in books on the subject.

Fascinating Document describing the attempt by the United States to build a sea level canal across Nicaragua prior to the 'revolution' that created Panama. Original brown cloth hardcover, with numerous maps, sketches, and photogravures of the proposed route and buildings.(1) folding sketch of lines and reconnaissances, (11) large fold out maps and detail drawings, 56 full page photogravures accompany the text, a detailed report of the survey. All maps, photogravures, and drawings are intact. Slight foxing on front free endpaper and on back flyleaves. Binding is tight, inside pages very clean. Hardcover boards show some wear along margins. Gilt title along spine is well preserved. This publication details the the survey for the ultimately unsuccessful attempt to build the canal. An enviable and important original resource for any historian of the region or America.

This is a rebound copy of the First Edition of the Martian Chronicles. If you have spent $2000+ for a good First Edition, but you want to actually READ the first edition, then perhaps this copy is for you.It is a library discard from the Washoe County (Reno) Nevada Library.. It was rebound in 1963 by the Houchen Bindery of Omaha Nebraska. This copy still has the library card in it, and a few stamps and mark. The binding is intact, and all pages present and in good shape.Corners bumped, some pages lightly stained, I wish that it was perfect of course, but it isn't.

White paper boards with author's pictorial in delicate watercolor of 'Bear'. Green lettering on front cover and spine. Spine on hardcover on outside has several rips in paper in the hinge area. Otherwise, binding is tight. No marks or defects of inside text. This was Geoffrey Hayes' first published title. This title has been re-issued, but the reprint lacks the delicacy and simplicity of Hayes' watercolors throughout the book. A landmark publication for the time, the work denoted the importance of 'alone time' for children. True First EditionThis is the true first edition by Young Scott Books, and was published posthumously. Illustrated by Rosella Hartman. The 1989 Harper Collins edition is a reprint, illustrated by Felicia Bond.Lithographic boards in green and red, scripted title in red. Book is in VG condition, with no markings or defects noted. Front free endpaper has a slight crease in page. DJ missing. Mylar protected.

AntiquarianThis is Volume XII only of a 12 volume set published in 1754. Volume XII is 383 pages, the last page is missing.Volume XII contains "Rules the concern all Servants in General", "Letters to and from Dr. Swift" and "The Last Will of Dean Swift". Book condition is fair. The spine has cracked, leaving two halves of the book still bound. Most of the leather on front and back boards has disappeared from wear, and the boards are detached. However, the text and rag paper are in remarkable condition for there age. With age toning throughout, and some staining, the print is completely readable. Only the last page is missing.

James Schmitz is one of my favorite authors of SF. He was the only author that I know of to accurately predict the Internet, and one of the few authors of his era to create strong female protagonists. This story is his only true full length novel. It is a fun, creative piece of work which has stood the test of time. This copy is the third printing of the first edition, by Chilton, the original publisher. Sage green boards, with black lettering on spine. Margins of the hardcover text are age toned and sunfaded a bit. Pages are unmarked and the binding is tight. In the 1970s, I participated in a study to create a plan for the future of Yosemite National Park. Most of the ideas created through that study were never implemented. But what if they had been? The authors of this book took that idea and created a narrative of a world that could have happened. Set in the then ten year distant 1988, They created a loose narrative, and a careful reading of it makes that world come alive. You will find many ideas in this book that are now commonly seen- electric cars for instance. I would compare it to the much more radical novel Ecotopia. I loved Yosemite, and worked hard on the study documents. This copy is my own, bought when it was published.Soft cover is in very good condition, with some light scuffing to back and front over small creases on front cover. Binding is tight, all pages unmarked. The Illustrations are wonderful and depict a future that I wish had happened.An extremely collectible copy in very good condition.Mylar protected.

A very fine copy of Paul Gaugin's Sketchbook, plus two softcover volumes of text, one in English, one in French. Limited to 1000 copies, this is copy #737 as indicated on last page. Errata notes laid in. The Facsimile reprint of the sketchbook is astounding. Smudges, stains, pencil marks even a grocery list or two are perfectly reproduced. This sketchbook covers the period from 1884 to 1888. Printed by yhr Hammer Galleries, N.Y. in 1962. This three volume set is in fine condition and appears to be unread and untaouched.
