Commercially produced album to be sold to individuals to house a collection. Minnie O'Shea Fortescue was the mistress of Robert B. Roosevelt, TR's notorious uncle. He later married her. Minnie has collected approx. 350 monograms from family members, government officials, other dignitaries and friends. TR is of course represented. Minnie's B. Roosevelt's ownership signature in ink is on the front free fly leaf.

A "Typewritten account of the Republican National Convention in Chicago, June 13-21, 1912, by Nicholas Roosevelt, cousin of Theodore Roosevelt. Nicholas describes traveling by train from New York to Chicago with Theodore, Edith, and Kermit Roosevelt, and other members of the election party. During the convention, Nicholas describes meeting with Chicago Tribune reporter John Callan (Cal) O'Lauglin, working with his colleague Charles P. Curtis for the Roosevelt campaign and the Progressive Party, the theft of delegates by Taft Republicans and votes for Elihu Root. Also includes details on speeches given at the convention and the response from delegates. The account was constructed from diary entries and letters N. Octavo, grey gilt-stamped cloth with grizzly bear motif. 142, (3)pp. Illustrated by Thomas Hunter. Very good or better. This copy has an original watercolor by Thomas Hunter on the front free endpapers. The image is titled as follows: "The train from Spokane ran through the tunnel in the Bitterroot Mountains". It is signed, dated and titled by the artist. The limitation statement on the half-title is also in the hand of the artist.BIBLIO-LIVE-3.

Duodecimo (4 3/4" x 7"), navy cloth, gilt, with an oval lozenge with an illustration of a creel with fish, top center. Corners illustrated with trout flies. Top edge gilt. 401pp. Illustrated by Milton C. Weiler. This is copy number 499 of 550. Very good with some offsetting from on the endpapers, probably from a jacket having been taped on. faint stain on the top edge. A little surface wear on the cover, barely noticeable. Some leaves unopened. A lovely copy.

London: Longman's, Green & Co, 1903. First edition. cloth. Very good -. Octavo (8.5" x 5.5"), navy gilt-stamped pictorial cloth showing a cascade and a fish ladder. Top edge gilt. Illustrated with 10 photogravures by the author's wife, and a colored plan. 168pp. with index plus 40p. cataogue of Longman's publications. an attractive copy. There is moderate foxing mostly on the preliminaries. All but three plates have some foxing in the margins, but the photogravures remain sharp and enchanting. The color plan is not stained. Small quarto (6" x 10"), full polished calf with four raised bands, recent black and brown gilt labels, and with blind devices in three panels. All edges marbled. Marbled endpapers, Turn-ins are decorated in blind. Early nineteenth century nameplate of Doune. Edges lightly worn. Covers scuffed. Minor occasional foxing. Volume one has been re-backed with the original spine. Labels are recent on both volumes. This edition has 15 additional illustrations as well as some text revisions. Beautiful wood engravings by Thomas Bewick (1753-1828) throughout. Volume I is the land birds, and volume II is the water birds.

London: T. Nelson and Sons, 1870. First edition. Original cloth. Very good +. Duodecimo (7" x 4.5"), navy beveled and blind-stamped boards with center mounted illustration. Gilt decorated spine and cover. All edges gilt.160pp. With 70 engravings of trees and wildlife, full page, and within the text. Light edgewear. Last page is a little soiled and has a half-inch tear near the gutter. Two gift inscriptions on the front endpaper. Overall very good. The author of "Walter at the Sea-side, Mary Greg wrote a series of natural history themed books for young people. This work treats the southern forest of England, New Forest. The story describes the environs and inhabitants of this forest, primarily its trees, in a romantic and appealing fashion. Oaks, birches, elms, chestnuts, lime, conifers, plane trees, alders and "graveyard trees" notably the Cypress, and the mighty sequoia of California are featured in the tale. An enchanting and educational piece.

Albany: State of New York, 1897. First Edition. cloth. Good +. Denton et al.. Quarto (8.5" x 11"), blue-grey clcoth with pictorial cover in black ink. 521pp. 9 full page chromolithographs of fish by Denton, and one of shells and starfish. Numerous photographs in black and white of camps and activities, some of Raquette Lake. Charts and statistics. The hinges are becoming weak, and the back hinge exposes the mull. Plates are all clean and bright. The "Pike Perch" plate has a 1/2" closed tear at the bottom center margin. Denton's signature on this plate only partially printed in the left margin. This copy was presented to the owner by one of the commissioners of that year, Charles H. Babcock, according to his stamp.

Clinton: Amwell Press, 1983. Special Limited edition. Hardcover in slipcase. Very good +. Small quarto (7" x 10"), faux leather, gilt, in tan slipcase. All edges gilt. Moire endpapers. 182 pp. with bibliography and index. Very good or better in a very good slipcase which is a little faded near the fore-edge on one side. Limited to 1000 copies, of which this is copy number 257. This Special Centennial Edition was done to commemorate the 100th anniversery of the introduction of the Brown Trout to America. The third title in the Angling Heritage Collection prepared for the National Sporting Fraternity Limited. Authorized and signed by the author and the president of the NSFL. Foreword by Ernest Schweibert. Illustrations by Wayne Trimm. This copy has a letter laid in from the recipient of the book from Ray Smith to whom the book was presented by Heacox. Included is an original photo of cover art for a jacket to accompany the first traded edition. The limited does not have a jacket. This edition is limited to 100 copies of which this is number 69.

Amsterdam: S. J. Baalde, 1779. Very good +. Hand colored copper plate engraving measuring 9.25" x 11.5" depicting a grouping of 6 moths or butterflies. This plate illustrates Aurota, Doris, Tipha, and Laomedia. There is descriptive text fully describing the insects in German and French, and a copy of a title page, in an envelope attached to the back of the mat. Exquisitely colored and finely detailed. This print is matted with acid free materials and shrink wrapped. The plate is not hinged, but is floated with acetate corners. Quite scarce.

1856. Second royal octavo edition. Very good +. The royal octavo edition of Birds of America as first published in 1840-44, and was followed by several more editions. This plate is from the second edition, published in 1856, distinct for the colored backgrounds. They are also a little different in that one species is pictured rather than a grouping of birds. This work was done to make Audubon's prints, highly in demand, more affordable for the general public. These hand colored lithographs were printed by J. T. Bowen. This plate still has the tissue guard. This plate shows the adult and juvenile male, and the female on a branch of Caprifolium Flavum.

There is descriptive text fully describing the insects in German and French, and a copy of a title page, in an envelope attached to the back of the mat. Exquisitely colored and finely detailed. This print is matted with acid free materials and shrink wrapped. The plate is not hinged, but is floated with acetate corners. This print has a few spots and a faint smudge in the background. There are reflections of the room in the shrink wrap which distort the photo. The print is uniform in condition with the few flaws noted. Quite scarce.

New York: Warner & Beers, no date. Very good. (ca. 1871-1873). Hand colored engraving measuring 16" x 18'5". Elegant masculine border with bright color. Light toning. Warner & Beers used the map done by Frank H. H. Lloyd & Company for their Atlas of the United States. A half-inch tear lower left margin.
