Little, Brown and Company. Very Good/Very Good. 1945. First U.S. Edition. Book Club edition, which predates first U.S. trade edition. Hardcover with dustjacket and book-of-the-month-club leaflet. Jacket has about a 1/2 inch chip at the top corner of the front, a 1/8 inch chip at the bottom, and two other less than 1/4 inch chips at the top of the spine. Jacket edges are worn, but aside from two 1/8 inch tears at the bottom of the front, appears to be free of any other rips or tears. Cover has black print on red cloth, with some light staining near the tops of the front and back covers. Bookplate inside the front cover. Binding is resonably tight and pages show no marks or tears.
