The dustjacket is in Good Condition with slight edge wear and the price clipped from the upper corner. Frank Herbert has autographed the title page. Fellowship is 4th impression in 4th impression jacket, Two Towers is 2nd impression in 3rd impression jacket, and Return of the King is 2nd impression in 2nd impression jacket. Red cloth with top edges stained red, and a colored folding map at the back of each volume. Ghosting and spotting to the endpapers, spotting to the edges, the spine of the Two Towers is cocked, the jackets are clipped on the bottom of the front flaps, are somewhat soiled, the spines darkened and have minor edgewear. Publishers red cloth, spines gilt. Top edges dyed red. A remarkable, fine set. Pages clean and bright in all three volumes. The books have clearly not been read. There is a little tarnishing to the gilt on the spine but the books are clean and the corners sharp. In the original crisp and bright dustwrappers, with the correct impression numbers to each volume. Prices still intact. A hint of fading to the red lettering on the spines but otherwise the wrappers are clean, crisp and unmarked. Overall a fine set. Rare in this condition. In over 30 years of dealing in Tolkien books I have not had a better set.
