Hardcover. Near Fine. 8vo. Original green cloth, gold-stamped. Boston and New York 1891. First Edition. Presentation copy inscribed on the front endpaper to the poet Madison Cawein, "Madison Cawein With the kind regards of Oliver Wendell Holmes Boston October 12th 1891". Also inscribed by Cawein.
Madison Cawein's poetry extolled the fields and forests, springs and flowers of Kentucky. Joyce Kilmer adjudged him the greatest nature poet of his time. An interesting association copy. Front hinge starting, o/w Fine.
